12 Step Programs are powerful for the treatment of addictions. Most alcoholics and drug addicts suffer from loneliness and isolation on a monumental level. That is one of the most healing aspects of 12 step meetings, which are not religious, but considered spiritual. This is an opportunity for those in recovery to meet and share struggles as well as successes as they relate to their life, without judgment.

Not feeling like one "belongs" is a crisis among young people today, and those young people grow up to become lonely adult people. Drugs and alcohol help to ease the loneliness and can help people with low self esteem get up the courage to at least try to belong, even if it is killing them. Getting sober does not happen over night, and that is why people who are activity working a 12 step program will say, "I am in recovery".

In most cases we stay in touch with each one of our clients to follow up on their recovery progress once they leave our facilities.

Most of our clients enjoy participating, and getting acquainted with the 12 step program while attending Treatment Alternatives Center. It is an opportunity for those in recovery to engage with like minded people who are also interested in living a happy and contented sober life. The 12 step meetings offer an added layer of protection as clients in treatment transition from a life of active addiction activities, and replace that time with a positive sober activities. Regular attendance at 12 step meetings and participating in other sober activities helps to insure long term happy sober lives.

Some of our clients may prefer not to attend 12 step meetings which we thoroughly support and understand. It is not a mandatory part of our treatment program, just one more "Treatment Alternative". By the time our clients have finished recovery at Treatment Alternatives, they will have been exposed to many ways to achieve and maintain a happy, productive and sober life.
